FEMI OSIBONA: THE 21ST CENTURY GAMECHANGER IN REAL ESTATES AND THE 21 STOREY BUILDING IKOYI NIGHTMARE, GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY?
To the common man, some names are only known
when a good or bad event happens in the country, and I am a common man. The first
time for majority of Nigerians to hear the name FEMI OSIBONA was when a
supposed pioneer building, first of its kind, to be built in Nigeria collapsed.
There must be a scape goat, Nigerians love responsibility especially when the
situation is not favorable, nobody loves to take the bad name, suddenly the
name which the common man doesn’t know became a household name, a man who wasn’t celebrated
in Nigeria when he was making feats across the globe is now being talked about
but that’s our country and how our system works, even the Government doesn’t like
to be the scape goat.
Naturally, I am a person who doesn’t like
shallow thinking , shallow ideas, moving with the crowd and I don’t do it, so,
I set aside my busy table to do some research because its pure wickedness not
to know someone and hang him because lives are involved. So, what is special
about this man? I found nothing intriguing about his upbringing and early
educational years in Nigeria, but I discovered he studied finance which is
quite related to what he practiced. A typical Nigerian doesn’t work in the
field he or she has an undergraduate degree in, THE LIGHT OF SURVIVAL BREEDS
OTHER MEANS OF SUSTENANCE. Writing his biography in detail will be an offence
to time because it will be repeated day in day out until Nigerians have grieved
enough to wrap their pain under their clothes.
There are facts I want us to look at,
because the Court of public opinion has quite some depth and influence even though our judicial bodies and government love to ignore it.
- · Yes, he is not an engineer, but you mustn’t be an engineer to be a real estate developer. Knowledge as an entity can’t be derived from only the class and what is knowledge without experience? This is why a newbie with heap of certificates in any field would listen to someone with years of practice in a way lower cadre on how to do a particular task, because experience is powerful and it cannot be bought, you must earn it.
- · This is not the first time he
is building extra floors on a building; he has done it in the past and succeeded.
Success belongs to the risk takers, the rule breakers, people who look outside
the box, not the timid. If he feels, a 21 floors can stand on that land and in that space, why not? He has
done it in the most developed countries in the world, why is Nigeria different?
- · He has a religious father whom
he seeks spiritual blessings and advise from before working in any country and
he gave Mr. Femi a go ahead on the job in Nigeria. This means he is a man that
walks with God, he is not full of himself.
- · This is the first time he is
doing something for his fatherland, and he wanted something unique, which is
yet to be done anywhere in Nigeria. If the resources are available and approvals
are given, why not? He talks about making Nigeria look like United Arab Emirates, you would
agree these are the kind of people we need in the 21st century to
work for Nigeria, to make Nigeria great again.
- · He is a developer not bricklayer
nor civil engineer. You can’t blame a real estate developer, architect, interior
decorator nor electrician for the collapse of a building. Whoever oversaw the
procurement of cement, gravel, sand, rods and other building materials should
be held accountable! They made and used low quality concrete with poor quality
rods for a first class building in an area like Ikoyi where houses are not for
the average Nigerian. This is unforgivable! Let’s not add the Nigerian attitude
of stealing building materials at building sites. HOW MANY STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS WERE INVOLVED?
- · 50% of his buildings at Ikoyi were
bought already before completing the buildings, this shows the trust people
have in him, only a man of integrity can pull that. UNARGUABLY, FEMI OSIBONA IS A
GAME CHANGER.
FEMI OSIBONA has estates across the globe,
should a 21 storey building in his home country be the one to end
his career and life? My question for the Court of public opinion is, IF
NIGERIANS DO NOT TRUST NIGERIANS TO INVEST IN NIGERIA, WHO SHOULD WE BLAME WHEN
FOREIGNERS TAKE UP OUR COUNTRY? MANY FEMI OSIBONAS IN DIFFERENT FIELDS ACROSS
THE GLOBE ARE WATCHING, IF YOU ARE ONE OF THEM, WILL YOU HAVE A SECOND THOUGHT
ON INVESTING IN NIGERIA AMIDST OUR CURRENT CRISIS OF INSECURITY AMONGST OTHERS?HOW MANY LICENSES OF STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS HAVE BEEN REVOKED DUE TO BUILDING COLLAPSE?
FEMI OSIBONA believed in Nigeria and wanted the best infrastructures for his people, everyone around him knew he wanted
to give back to his fatherland but his people killed him on his sweat and let him dream to his eternal abode.
